KCI Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Kinetic Concepts, Inc., (KCI) is a global corporation that produces medical technology related to wounds and wound healing. KCI produced the first product developed specifically for negative pressure wound therapy. In 2013, the company employed 5,000 people and marketed its products in more than 25 countries. Its headquarters is in San Antonio, Texas.

KCI has bad management as an employer, lack of training, and no work-life balance, a former employee claims at indeed.com

"I started at KCI with the best intentions. I felt I had possibly found the company I could see myself in long term. I was sadly mistaken. I would not recommend this company at all. Badly managed, employees left on their own to learn, team and group lines of authority and structure not clear and constantly changing, disorganized and cliquey. Known to fire employees with no record of any issues with no explanation, no warning, and no pay. No work-life balance, inexperienced managers, unnecessarily complicated processes, no clear lines of communications, job expectations and role not clear, left in the dark per se in regards to dept. changes."

"This place was a real joke from the start . They felt they were forced to take us and never had any plans to keep us . The whole focus of this outfit is owners make money --- you don't. No benefits, long hours, micro managers , and bold face liars . This place has no written rules - made up as they go . They could be a great place - but got the wrong director and wrong ideas .... This place needs to flush the GNOC managers --- and start over - and without the overseas people who know nothing ..... Cons: everything"

SME (Former Employee) says

"Some managers and directors in this company does not appreciate employees and treat them as slaves. I worked there for several years and made a great contribution to the the company. I worked many many over time hours, and weekends for a critical project, but got no comp time or extra pays at all. They take credit but leave the blame to others. Some manager and director in IT department know little or nothing about technology but they still try to make technical decision. They blamed technical experts like myself and other employees once issues happen. They don't take responsities but blame people who report to them. These manager and director do not understand, and know nothing about technologies. All they do is talking and taking credit! Cons: It does not appreciate employees who work hard and make great contribution to the company"

"Was told to stay home they didn’t have any work for 3 weeks just after Thanksgiving. Their health insurance and dental insurance suck. The only good benefit is stock option that takes you 5 years to be vested 100%. Management has no backbone."

KCI Airport Bartender (Former Employee) says

"Absolutely crummy management and untrustworthy Union. Lots of backstabbers more worried about hiding all of their wrongdoings vs making employees happy. Steer clear of this place."

Service Consultant Associate (Former Employee) says

"Great people to work during the first 3 years. The last two being in the company, management come and go. Unable to move up in the company. Company was not honest during the branches closing and company being bought."

FSR ll (Former Employee) says

"***First of all there are some truly great & magnificent people working for KCI so this excludes the ones genuinely trying to make a difference**."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at KCI Technologies full-time for less than a year Cons: Different company feel varies per location, mgmt not skilled in training new staff, unclear guidelines due to restructure and unclear reporting structure, no work-life balance"

Software Developer says

"I worked at KCI Technologies for more than a year Cons: they used very old technology ."

Former Employee - Mid Level Manager says

"I worked at KCI Technologies full-time for more than 5 years Cons: Management proved time and again they were out only for themselves. Sent salaried staff home with forced vacation or time without pay when not 100% billable. Have no long term vision, respond to weekly reports and do not care what is on the horizon. President of company walks around with spreadsheets all day but doesn't realize real people make the profit at KCI. Actually asked employees to use their personal cell phones to make long distance calls for the company to save money while at the same time they maintained a suite at the Baltimore Ravens games year after year."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I have been working at KCI Technologies full-time for more than 5 years Cons: Not a place to be if you want to further your career. Work environment has changed. Company has hired in last 2 years people who engage in Inappropriate language and office etiquette many who are 20 and 30 something. I see a lawsuit in this company's future"

Senior Level says

"I worked at KCI Technologies Cons: Company had no vision beyond today's utilization rate."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at KCI Technologies full-time for more than a year Cons: No one offered help learning new techniques and information for fear of someone else being better than them. Management never focused on the employees, never knew the status of projects because we never had a staff meeting in one full year. No performance reviews, was surprised when I was laid off and nobody told me I was doing anything wrong, never had a chance to improve. When I was laid off, KCI attempted to block Unemployment Compensation, citing multiple bogus reasons such as "falsification of timesheet", "unwillingness to learn new processes", and "misrepresentation of skills during job interview". I have heard from other individuals with many successful years of employment who were let go and had the same trouble with getting Unemployment benefits."

Current Employee - Design Engineer II says

"I have been working at KCI Technologies full-time for more than a year Cons: Where does one begin? The human resources may be the worst in Maryland in the past ten years. They focused more on "resources" than "humans." Some of the project managers are a laughingstock. No education required to ascend, and those with education are discarded as "problem" people, despite their practicality, which is often misconstrued as arrogance or stubbornness."

says

"I worked at KCI Technologies Cons: If you like being lied to this is the place for you. The recruiters and managers are dishonest and have no qualms about lying to employees. The dishonesty appears to be systemic and supported by upper management. No apparent redeeming values."

Former Employee - GIS Analyst says

"I worked at KCI Technologies full-time for more than a year Cons: This company does not value their workers. I was extremely underpaid for my specific job title and experience. Additionally the management was changing at my time of employment causing an extreme shortage of work and constant arguments between leadership. Management does not care who worked for them as long as it met the minimum objective, don’t expect to be able to grow in this company. They use you and throw you away"

Former Employee - Administrative Assistant says

"I worked at KCI Technologies full-time for less than a year Cons: Didn’t value some the people who were in Keith & Schnars when they bought the company and let go half of them."
